Mummers at Boardwalk Hall

What Is It: If you enjoy the Mummers tradition but couldn't get to Philadelphia for the annual New Year's parade, you're in luck today. The Mummers are coming to Atlantic City to turn Boardwalk Hall into string-band heaven today.

What To Expect: The "Show of Shows" for string bands brings 16 of those heavily costumed, Mummers-strutting bands to the shore for a long afternoon of music and entertainment. The lineup includes the Fralinger String Band, of course - that perennial favorite won its Mummers division in the parade last month for the ninth time in the past

Hurricane Sandy benefit in Margate

What Is It: The Dominick Potena Performing Arts Center hosts a stage full of professional entertainers tonight looking to raise money for the Hometown Heroes' "Restore the Shore" campaign. And those entertainers are hoping to see a house full of people ready to help their cause, of helping people hurt by October's ferocious Hurricane Sandy.

What To Expect: The Sandy Variety Show Fundraiser is hosted by Michelle Dawn Mooney, above, the NBC-TV 40 news anchor. It features comedy from Scott Friedman, the WZXL-FM morning host, music from Margate's own rising country star, Mia Bergmann, among many others, plus actors, dancers, magic and much more entertainment.

'Discover the Warmth' at Wheaton Arts

What Is It: Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in Millville, the former Wheaton Village, is a great spot to bring kids on a cold day. To emphasize that, the center is hosting a series of free kids' activities every weekend this month. The "Discover the Warmth" promotion includes programs today and Sunday.

What To Expect: This afternoon's activity is a lesson in how to paint butterflies - taught by showing kids how to paint half a butterfly. You have to see it to get it. On Sunday, the lesson is creating "wildflower seed bombs," an approach for gardeners with dreams of beauty, but spaces that are hard to tend.

'Art Appreciation Day' in Vineland

What Is It: You and the youngsters can see three artists at work and check out some live music today at downtown Vineland's Landis Marketplace. The kids also can try creating some art of their own.

What To Expect: The artists are locals - Joel Howard, Robert Hickox and Nancy Sharp. They plan to do "live art demos," and help out with make-and-take activities for young artists in the crowd. Natalie Bermudez, a hometown singer-songwriter, will entertain starting at noon.
