'Steel Magnolias' at Surflight

What Is It: A quintessential story of friendship and trust, "Steel Magnolias" chronicles the lives and friendships of six women in Louisiana. It will be performed tonight and continue through Oct. 7 at the Surflight Theatre.

What To Expect: Supporting each other through their triumphs and tragedies, the women of "Steel Magnolias" congregate at Truvy's Beauty Shop to ponder the mysteries of life and death, husbands, children - and hair and nails - topics that unite and celebrate women. Playwright Robert Harling was an aspiring actor when he wrote "Steel Magnolias" to cope with the death of his beloved sister.
