"When it comes to being a Mother, my "Ma" dedicated her life to this special role. When it came to taking care of us, she was thorough and routine with baths, meals and bedtime...very utilitarian but with love, compassion and sensitivity. She always made sure Santa was good to us and birthdays were celebrated - but without going overboard. Mall outings were frequent and she taught me the likes of old school department stores such as Gimbels, Steinbach's and Strawbridge's. Though it is true I was, and still am spoiled, by my mom, she taught me to share, appreciate, and give whatever I have to others and to work hard for what I need and want. I am indebted to her for life, for she continued to sacrifice throughout my adulthood so I could attain my master's degree and pursue my goal of becoming a successful speech language pathologist. She helped and supported me like it was HER life goal ...and now I realize it was her life goal ...her goal was to see her three children happy, successful and independent. I take great solace in knowing I made her proud. - Loralee Farren-Bermudez, Hammonton
