Beatrice Regina Fogel: A mom who loved her kids, and the ocean

An artist by trade and nature, Beatrice Regina Fogel (nee Broome), my mother, was multi-talented: painter, sculptor and musician. But her greatest creations were her children, Dan, Pat and Joel ..... three "pieces of work " who reflected her sense of justice, creativity and compassion. Living by the sea all of her life, Bea was a "water baby." She loved the ocean and its shoreline. She taught us to love and respect the sea as well. She said "Remember, Joel, your true Mother is the Ocean. She has given us everything. Protect her with your life." Mother was always a little dramatic by nature, but her words stuck to us and to this day we think of her when we bring her grandchildren to swim at the shore. - Joel S. Fogel, Somers Point
