'American Pride Day' at Aviation Museum

What Is It: Look, up in the sky - and down on the ground - it's a B-17 bomber. The vintage World War II plane is visiting the Naval Air Station Wildwood until noon today to help the museum celebrate American Pride Day.

What To Expect: The B-17 will be joined by a much more modern aircraft, an F-18 fighter jet, in this annual event at the NASW, the museum that preserves the history of a busy World War II training facility on the mainland in Lower Township. Both planes will fly over Cape May County, and American Pride Day visitors can pay to take a flight on the B-17 "Yankee Lady," itself a visitor from the Yankee Air Museum in Michigan. Other activities include live music and food from vendors.

Event Info: American Pride Day continues from 9 a.m. to noon today at the NASW, in the Cape May County Airport, 500 Forrestal Rd., Lower Township. Walk-through tours of the B-17 are available with regular museum admission, $10 for adults and seniors or $8 for kids ages 3-12. Flights cost $450 per person; for reservations, call Dave Wright at 734-483-4030 ext. 236. For more details, visit usnasw.org or call 609-886-8787.
