Miss outstanding teen

Five of this year’s 20 contestants for Miss New Jersey’s Outstanding Teen are from Atlantic and Cape May counties. The new Miss New Jersey ‘s Outstanding Teen will be crowned Saturday in Clayton.

CLAYTON — Twenty contestants will take the stage Saturday to compete for the title of Miss New Jersey’s Outstanding Teen 2017.

The teen who wins will go on to compete in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition in Orlando, Florida, in June.

South Jersey contestants are Miss Avalon’s Outstanding Teen Madelyn Hays, of Cape May; Miss Northern Lakes’s Outstanding Teen Samantha McConaghy, of Mays Landing; Miss Cape Shores’ Outstanding Teen Alexandra Hughes, of Galloway Township; Miss Camden County’s Outstanding Teen Victoria Matt, of Ocean City; and Miss Atlantic Shores’ Outstanding Teen Augostina Mallous, of Cape May Court House.

The sister program to Miss America, for girls ages 13 to 17, has produced Miss New Jerseys, including this year’s Miss New Jersey Brenna Weick.

The organization was created to promote scholarships and community involvement in the teen category.

Each contestant already has won a local title to compete for Miss New Jersey’s Outstanding Teen.
