'70s survivors

The hard rock band Aerosmith, with Steven Tyler, above, made its first big splash during the 1970s with such classic songs as "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion." The band performs with fellow 1970s rockers Cheap Trick Friday in Ovation Hall at Revel.

America attacked

In "Red Dawn," a group of teenagers fight to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers. Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, above, who portrayed the comic book character Thor in "The Avengers," is one of the stars of the picture that opens Wednesday.

Other nationwide releases are the adventure film "Life of Pi," the animated "Rise of the Guardians" and the comedy "Silver Linings Playbook."

Racy Rihanna

Rihanna, who poses nude on the cover of the December issue of GQ magazine, releases a new CD, "Unapologetic," on Tuesday. This is the hardworking entertainer's seventh full-length album in eight years.

Diva deathmatch

Organizers of the 40th annual American Music Awards better make sure there is plenty of room backstage as many of the current divas of pop music are scheduled to perform on the show, including Kelly Clark-son, Carrie Underwood, above, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Swift, Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj.
