Kenny's crowd

More than 20,000 people will be hanging out together Wednesday on the beach in Wildwood for the rare opportunity to see Kenny Chesney, above, perform for free in what will be one of the biggest concerts of the year in southern New Jersey. The show kicks off 8 p.m. on the beach south of Mariner's Landing Pier at Schellenger Avenue.

All the free tickets are gone, but the performance is being livestreamed on YouTube. With a concert this big, it's likely those hanging out on the Wildwood Boardwalk will be able to hear most of the music and enjoy the scene.

Metallica's

menagerie

The heavy metal band Metallica brings a variety of musical acts Saturday and June 24 to Bader Field in Atlantic City for the Orion Music + More Festival. While Metallica is known for its heavy rocking, many of the festival's other acts - Eric Church, Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse, Best Coast and Gary Clark Jr - don't fall under the hard-rock umbrella.

Others in town during a busy weekend include Salt N Pepa, Naughty by Nature and other rappers Friday at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and Beck Saturday at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Ringo Starr performs Saturday at Caesars Atlantic City and Debbie Reynolds is at Resorts Casino Hotel on Saturday.
