Historic trick or treating in Cape May

What Is It: At one point in its long history, the Emlen Physick Estate in Cape May looked like one of those haunted houses no kid would ever want to go near, even at Halloween. But following decades of renovations, the mansion only looks scary when it's trying to.

What To Expect: You know the trick-or-treating drill - you show off your costume and get candy. But the Physick Estate, the home of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts, is probably more dressed up itself for Halloween than any kids who come to its door. The people who work there do the costume thing, too.

Event Info: Trick-or-treating runs 5 to 7 p.m. at the Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May. Free. For more details, call 609-884-5404 or visit www.capemaymac.org
