In other regions, nine-to-fivers often utter a common phrase to indicate they're ready to kick back and relax after working all week: "Thank god it's Friday."

But this is not "other regions," this is the Jersey Shore. Here many workers are busiest on weekends, and visitors are forever looking to lengthen their getaway weekend by arriving earlier and earlier in the week. That's why Tropicana Casino & Resort is kick-starting the party early with dining and entertainment specials every Thursday beginning this week.

If you're into high-end dining at a mid-way price, Fin offers a variety of wine bottles at half price and two sushi rolls for $10, and The Palm has a 4-pound lobster dinner for two people for $99.

Or dine more casually on half-price pizza and beer from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. at Seaside Cafe or $5 tacos and 40-ounce beers at A Dam Good Sports Bar.

If you just want to sample the menu before committing, The Palm and Cuba Libre offer bite-size appetizers for $5, while Hooters has fried pickles for $3.99.

Adventurous drinkers can try four vodka infusion shots for $15 at Red Square or $5 Caipirinhas - made from cachasa liquor, vodka or sake - from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cuba Libre.

If your friends aren't so brave, they can down Miller Lite bottles for $4 at Cuba Libre or drafts for $2 at Rumba Lounge. Other drink specials include $3 Red Tag drafts at Firewaters, $5 Blue Parrot Lemonade at the Pool Bar and $5 Captain Morgan drinks and $6 select martinis at RiRa.

For a throwback kind of night, grab a Black Cherry Coke with a twist of rum for $7 at Carmines, then head to Boogie Nights to dance to '90s music (Boogie Nights usually has music from the '70s and '80s).

Ladies get two tickets to Comedy Stop for $30 plus a souvenir photo. And kids-at-heart can munch on free popcorn with ticket purchase at the IMAX theater.
