The highlights of the summer concert season in southern New Jersey can be summed up simply — Justin Bieber, country and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.

At 22, Bieber is trying to pull off one of the hardest acts in all of popular music: being successful as both a male teen pop star and an adult pop star.

After a three-year period in which the Canadian singer-songwriter didn’t release a full-length album, he returned last year armed with new music producers — including Skillex, Benny Blanco and Axident — and released “Purpose.”

The album debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 and was No. 16 last week. It was the fourth best-selling album of last year with worldwide sales of 3.1 million. The third single, “Love Yourself,” was the No. 11 song on the Billboard Hot 100 last week.

Bieber is so hot that he is one of the few artists who could perform before 30,000 fans during two shows in May at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and on July 15 still come to the arena in Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City to potentially perform before another 14,000 fans.

Bieber’s show will be big, but far more people will come to the beach concerts planned this summer in Wildwood and Atlantic City.

Country-music star Tim McGraw is up first with a July 4 concert on the Wildwood beach. McGraw appears as part of his “Humble and Kind” summer tour. Grammy nominee Hunter Hayes and Maggie Rose will open for McGraw. McGraw has not performed in southern New Jersey since 2005 at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.

Easy-listening singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band will headline the first Atlantic City beach concert Aug. 13 with opening act G. Love & Special Sauce. Buffett drew an estimated 50,000 to a free concert in 2013 on the Atlantic City beach.

The unofficial end of summer, Labor Day weekend, will see Atlantic City host two country music-themed beach concerts. The Zac Brown Band takes the stage with the opening act Drake White and The Big Fire on Sept. 1. A quadruple bill of Florida Georgia Line, Cole Swindell, The Cadillac Three and Kane Brown is booked for Sept. 3.

Country acts booked this summer into casino showrooms include Jamey Johnson in the Circus Maximus Theater at Caesars Atlantic City on July 16 and Lady Antebellum in the Event Center at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa on July 16.

Besides country, the most abundant music to be found in concert venues this summer has been made by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.

Bogata offers a couple of hall of famer double bills.

Bob Dylan, a 1988 inductee, headlines with opening act Mavis Staples, who was inducted in 1999 with the Staple Singers, in the Event Center on July 10 . British rock guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck, inducted in 2009, and blues legend Buddy Guy, inducted in 2005, both appear in the Event Center on July 23.

Motown great Smokey Robinson, inducted in 1987, headlines at Caesars Atlantic City on June 25. Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, inducted in 1988 with the rest of the Beach Boys, brings his “Pet Sounds” 50th anniversary tour to Caesars on Aug. 27. Rod Stewart, inducted in 1994, headlines in the arena at the Taj on Aug. 27.
