EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A search of a West Atlantic City motel room resulted in the arrest of a township man on weapons and drug charges related to a previous shooting and the seizure of multiple quantities of drugs, police said.
At 2:06 p.m. Friday, Egg Harbor Township Police Officer Paul Janetta responded to the Ramada Limited on the Black Horse Pike to investigate a wanted man out of Pleasantville.
According to Pleasantville Police Cpt. Matthew Hartman, Nathaniel Parks, 33, of Egg Harbor Township, was the victim of a Feb. 17 shooting near Third Street and Woodland Avenue.
Parks told police he was shot during an attempted robbery. Police said a Glock semi-automatic handgun was found at the scene. An investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit found the handgun had been in Park’s possession during the incident, as well as a large quantity of heroin packaged for sale.
Parks was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. A warrant for his arrest was issued.
Egg Harbor Township police investigated the motel room and said they found about 20 packages of heroin, about 12 grams of cocaine, a quantity of the prescription pill Xanax and drug paraphernalia.
Parks was taken into custody and Egg Harbor Township Police charged him with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of prescription medication without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Parks was turned over to Pleasantville police, who arrested and processed him.
Parks is currently being held in the Atlantic County jail pending a detention hearing.
