Crowds converged on Margate today as Lucy the Elephant, the city's pachyderm-shaped landmark, celebrates its 132nd birthday.

Festivities will continue through 8 p.m. at the historic structure that was built 1881 as a tourist attraction by a real estate developer.

Free parking and shuttle service to Lucy is available at the Union Avenue School playground at the intersection of Union and Winchester avenues in Margate.
