Harley enjoys traveling, exploring outdoors, and partner dancing. Her platform, “Intercultural Community-Building,” promotes constructive dialogue on immigration, refugees, and cultural competency, with the aim of de-politicizing groups of people and building relationships between individuals of different backgrounds. Having spent time in Africa and the Middle East, and working with refugees and immigrants in Oregon, Harley is very passionate about this issue. As an intern for the U.S. State Department, she co-founded the refugee advocacy group “No Lost Generation UO” which raises awareness of the refugee crisis, collaborates with resettlement organizations, and advocates for educational opportunities for refugee youth.
