Plans for the events surrounding Miss America’s big return to Atlantic City in a week will be announced at a news conference 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kennedy Plaza.
Leaders will lay out the two weeks of festivities from the arrival of the 53 contestants Sept. 3, to the crowning of Miss America 2014 at Boardwalk Hall on Sept. 15.
Topics will include public-safety plans and transportation information, such as any detours as a result of the Sept. 14 Boardwalk parade and where to park for the event. There will also be suggestions for where those who don’t have a ticket for one of the 30,000 paid seats along the parade route may be able to sit.
Speaking at the event will be Tourism District Commander Tom Gilbert, Atlantic City Police Sgt. Monica McMenamin, CRDA Executive Director John Palmieri, Atlantic City Alliance President Liza Cartmell, Miss America Organization CEO Sam Haskell III and John Leone of NJ Transit, which will be part of the collaborative law enforcement effort working security for the parade and other events.
