Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields is your new Miss America.
She was chosen out of 52 contestants competing for the title. She was crowned by Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
Shields, 21, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was awarded a $50,000 scholarship, a 6-figure salary and an appearance contract with dick clark productions, along with her new title.
You could say she even predicted her new title when showing off her evening wear gown on the live ABC broadcast on Sunday night. The gown was black, with not a rhinestone on it.
“To me, it’s what Miss America’s dress looks like,” she said.
She also impressed judges with her dancing talent, which also won her a preliminary award earlier in the week. Her secret dream? To become a background dancer for Beyonce.
When asked her on-stage question, simply asked what she thinks about presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, she said that both Clinton and Donald Trump should watch what they say.
In her post-crowning press conference, Shields elaborated that she would like to see politicians rewarded for compromising instead of constantly having to defend themselves.
