ATLANTIC CITY — With the Labor Day weekend coming to a close, the city sets the stage for its nearly 100-year tradition of hosting the Miss America competition.

Contestants who arrived last week for rehearsals are set for this week’s competitions and other events.

On Wednesday through Friday, Miss America preliminary competitions will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. The contestants have been divided into three groups and will rotate each night, competing in lifestyle and fitness, talent and eveningwear.

The Meet and Greet Luncheon on Friday will include several past Miss Americas at Blue Water Grill at Flagship Resort. Miss America 1984 Suzette Charles and Miss America 1948 BeBe Shopp will be there. Call 609-347-0770 for tickets.

Saturday’s Show Us Your Shoes parade will begin at 5 p.m. at New Jersey Avenue and continue down the Boardwalk to Albany Avenue.

From 7:30 to 9 p.m., the Miss America State Titleholders Association is hosting a party at 1921 Cocktail Bar in the Playground Pier. The event is $25 per person and will benefit the Miss America Foundation. Tickets may be purchased at MissAmericaFoundation.com/MASTA.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, the big event will take place in Boardwalk Hall. The competition will be televised on ABC television networks. The official Miss America after-party will be at the Palladium Ballroom at Caesars Atlantic City from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are available through the Miss America Organization website.
