As Miss America Savvy Shields continued her nationwide travels this week, she received an unexpected surprise: meeting her youngest, smallest fan.
This week's duties included ribbon cutting ceremonies for Gray Television stations in Davenport, IA, Green Bay, WI and Sioux Falls, SD, according to the Miss America Organization.
Shields toured the KSFY station set in Sioux Falls and attended a meet-and-greet with station staff.
Following her time at the station, she made a stop at Sanford Hospital where a baby girl was born and who will now grow up with the same name of Savvy.
Molly and Jay Scheidt, of Worthing, South Dakota, welcomed their first child on Monday night. Molly has been a lifelong fan of the Miss America Competition and was tuned in to ABC in September to watch Shields take the crown. Molly said in a statement she knew immediately she would name her daughter Savvy.
