Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri took the traditional dip in the Atlantic Ocean Monday morning capping off the return of the competition to Atlantic City.

"Im so honored to be the new spokesperson for Atlantic City," she said.

Davuluri, 24, started her first day as Miss America with an appearance on ABC's Good Morning America and will continue making the rounds on television later day.

Miss America CEO Sam Haskell said Davuluri would make stops on Fox and Friends and Michael and Kelly.

Davuluri is heading to New York City today where she will also meet with former Miss America Vanessa Williams.

Williams was crowned 30 years ago in Atlantic City.

Before her stop in the ocean, Davuluri said she planned to use her $50000 scholarship for her won to pay for medical school. She comes from a medical family - her father is a doctor and her older sister is in her third year of medical school.

Davuluri, of Syracuse,graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in brain development and cognitive science.
