The Holy Spirit High School girls tennis team won a share of the Cape-Atlantic League National Conference title with a 3-2 win over host Sacred Heart on Friday at Gittone Park in Vineland.
Third-singles player Kerin Maguire fought back from a first-set loss to win the deciding point by defeating Sacred Heart's Abby Bencie 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
In the first match between the teams on Sept. 12, Bencie won 6-4, 6-0.
It's Sacred Heart's first conference title since 2004 and Holy Spirit's eighth straight. The Spartans also clinched a share of the Division II title.
Maguire, a 17-year-old senior from Brigantine, won four straight games in the final set to clinch the point.
"Obviously there was a lot of pressure on me since I was the last match on the court, but I wasn't going to let it get away from me, so I worked really hard and just got everything back and it paid off," Maguire said.
"The whole team played great and we wanted it really bad, so it was a really great experience."
