Eighteen Press-area high school girls tennis teams will compete in the South Jersey section of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament beginning on Thursday.

Undefeated Sacred Heart (11-0) leads all local teams as the No. 1 seed in the Non-Public South-B and earned a bye in the first round.

Five area teams will compete in Group II, including No. 2 Barnegat (15-2) and No. 3 seed Cedar Creek (8-3).

Egg Harbor Township (8-1), No. 10 in The Press Elite 11, is the No. 4 seed in Group IV and Ocean City (8-1) is the No. 2 seed in Group III.

Group III

(10) Camden Wilson at (1) Moorestown; (9) Highland Regional at (8) Pinelands Regional; (12) Timber Creek at (5) Oakcrest; (13) Delsea Regional (4) Cumberland Regional; (14) Central Regional at (3) Seneca; (11) Lacey Township at (6) Kingsway Regional; (10) Gloucester Tech at (7) Burlington Township; (15) Camden at (2) Ocean City.

Group II

(9) Buena Regional at (8) Cinnaminson, winner will play (1) Haddonfield; (12) Sterling at (5) Woodstown; (13) Deptford at (4) Collingswood; (14) Pleasantville at (3) Cedar Creek; (11) Willingboro at (6) West Deptford; (10) Manchester Township at (7) Middle Township, winner will play (2) Barnegat.

Non-Public South-A

(9) Holy Cross at (8) Notre Dame, winner will play (1) Pingry; (5) St. John Vianney at (4) Holy Spirit, in second round; (11) Paul VI at (6) Monsignor Donovan, winner will play (3) Bishop Eustace; (10) Mount St. Mary at (7) Bishop Ahr, winner will play (2) Red Bank Catholic.

Non-Public South-B

(9) Trenton Catholic at (8) Mater Dei, winner will play (1) Sacred Heart; (5) Ranney at (4) Moorestown Friends, in second round; (6) Our Lady of Mercy Academy at (3) Gill St. Bernard’s, in second round; (10) Rutgers Prep at (7) Marist, winner will play (2) Wardlaw Hartridge.
