Egg Harbor Township High School defeated previously unbeaten Clearview Regional 3-2 in a South Jersey Group IV quarterfinal girls tennis match Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded Eagles, ranked No. 9 in The Press Elite 11, advanced to the semifinal round for the first time since 2008. Egg Harbor Township will play today at top-seeded Cherry Hill East, which is ranked No. 5 in The Press Elite 11.
Katie Garthaus won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles to improve to 12-2 this season. Vida Torres clinched a point at second singles. The first-doubles team of Maria Ibarra and Christine Pao improved to 10-2 with a straight-set victory.
Clearview (14-1), the No. 10 team in the Elite 11, was seeded fifth.
