Wildwood High School senior running back Wesley Hills scored six rushing touchdowns as the Warriors blanked visiting Newark Academy 49-0 Saturday in a nonleague football game.
Wildwood (5-3) took a big step toward making the South Jersey Group I playoffs for the first time.
“The way it looks now, I think we’ll be the 7 or 8 seed no matter what,” said Wildwood coach Rich Hans. “It’s pretty exciting for the school.
“I told the kids before the game that we could make it for the first time ever, and they really came out fired up and played hard. We only ran Wesley seven times.”
Hills scored on runs of 6, 23, 60, 43, 50 and 55 yards.
Hills had 234 yards on seven carries. in the game. The Warriors led 34-0 at halftime.
David Flanders (five carries for 46 yards) scored a 1-yard TD for Wildwood in the fourth quarter.
Teammate Francis Christian returned six kickoffs for 132 yards.
