Boys basketball: Wildwood Catholic falls in South Jersey semifinal

Malachi Richardson scored 21 points as the Roselle Catholic High School boys basketball team beat visiting Wildwood Catholic 75-50 in a South Jersey Non-Public B semifinal game in Roselle, Union County.

Jordan Robertson led the third-seeded Crusaders (23-6) with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Eddie McWade added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Clinton Freeman had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Roselle Catholic (21-5), the second seed, shot 11-for-18 from the 3-point line, including 8-for-11 in the first half.

"They had two guys 6-(foot)-9 and (one) 6-7, and we tried to take away the inside and they shot the lights out," Wildwood Catholic coach Dave DeWeese said. "They shot the ball so well it was difficult to keep up.

"We had a great season. Everyone worked hard and they overachieved. They all worked hard for 32 minutes of every game. It's an accomplishment because our top seven players are underclassmen. Our future is bright."
