Girls basketball roundup: Cumberland Regional gets first win of season

The Cumberland Regional High School girls basketball team held Gateway Regional scoreless in the fourth quarter to pull away and win 25-22 to earn its first win of the season on Friday.

Katie McCormick guided the Colts down the stretch scoring five of her game-high nine points in the final quarter of the Tri-County Conference game.

Tykiria Ellis contributed with five points, while Asia Hester and Victoria Nichols each had four.

Lauryn Fields registered a game-high 25 points, including six 3-pointers. Lauren Legler added 19 points and seven rebounds for the Panthers (12-3).

For Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Ruta Vetra recorded a team-high 12 points.
