South Jersey Group IV football semifinal preview: Kingsway Regional at Lacey Township

The Lacey Township High School football team finds itself in a familiar spot: The Lions are undefeated and pursuing a South Jersey title.

Lacey (10-0) will host Kingsway Regional (7-3) in a South Jersey Group IV semifinal at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Lacey finished 12-0 and won S.J. titles in the 2010 and 2006 seasons.

The Lions this season combine the running of Kyle Spatz with the passing of quarterbacks Conor Davies and Tom Kelly and the big-play capability of wide receivers Bill Belford and Christian Tutela.

Kingsway has scored a combined 93 points in its last two games. The Dragons' three losses are to teams with a combined record of 23-5.

Key players for Kingsway: Ray Lawry, RB/DB, 181 carries for 1,828 yards; Emilio Irving, RB, 1,046 rushing yards; Odjegba Emore, OL/DL; Brian Morrow, LB; Pat Hodges, DE/TE; Myles Matthews, LB.

Key players for Lacey Township: Tom Kelly, QB, 65-of-88 for 1,132 yards and 14 touchdowns; Conor Davies, QB, 41-of-49 for 531 yards and eight touchdowns; Kyle Spatz, RB, 167 carries for 1,134 yards and 12 touchdowns; Christian Tutela, WR, 25 catches for 561 yards and five touchdowns; Bill Belford, WR, 32 catches for 508 yards and nine touchdowns; Casey Sirotniak, LB, 69 tackles; Tim Grochowski, NG, four sacks.

Keys to victory: Lacey needs to slow the running of Irving and Lawry. The Lions also must continue to get the ball to wide receivers Tutela and Belford and let them use their speed and agility to elude would-be tacklers for big gains.
