The state individual wresting tournament ends today with the finals starting at 3 p.m.
Here's a quick look at each individual weight-class final.
Nick Suriano, Bergen Catholic, Fr. vs. Kyle Bierdumpfel, Don Bosco Prep, Fr.
The two nationally ranked freshmen will face off for the fourth time this season, with Suriano winning the first three by decision. Suriano, ranked No. 1 in the country by InterMat, won the prestigious Beast of the East. Bierdumpfel is ranked ninth in the country.
Luis Gonzalez, Don Bosco Prep, Jr. vs. Kevin Corrigan, Toms River South, Sr.
Gonzalez will place at states for the third time in as many years as he looks to improve on his fourth-place finish from a season ago. Gonzalez finished second at 103 his freshman season. Corrigan finished fifth in the state at 113 last season.
Brenden Calas, Seton Hall, Sr. vs. Craig De La Cruz, Bound Brook, So.
Calas is looking for his third straight state title and has shown a knack for winning close matches in the process. Calas has three wins at states by a combined four points. De La Cruz finished fourth in the state at 106 last season.
Corey Stasenko, South Plainfield, Sr. vs. Anthony Giraldo, North Bergen, Jr.
Stasenko will look to win the 126-pound title one season after competing at states in Atlantic City at 145 pounds. Stasenko, ranked 13th in the country, is headed to Rutgers next season. Giraldo, ranked 11th in the country, pinned Buena's Billy Ward in the quarterfinals.
Scott DelVecchio, South Plainfield, Sr. vs. Ron Gentile, Paulsboro, Soph.
The second in a string of four straight weight classes with a South Plainfield wrestler in the finals. DelVecchio, headed to N.C. State, is ranked eighth in the country and will look to defend his 132-pound title. Gentile is one of three Region 8 wrestlers in the finals.
Anthony Ashnault, South Plainfield, Sr. vs. Gary Dinmore, Hunterdon Central, Jr.
The biggest storyline of the finals has Ashnault looking to become the first unbeaten four-time state champ in New Jersey history. Ashnault will wrestle at Rutgers next season and is ranked second in the country. He enters today with a 169-0 career record. Dinmore lost to Ashnault in last season's state final.
B.J. Clagon, Toms River South, Sr. vs. Troy Heilmann, South Plainfield, Sr.
Clagon is looking for his second state title. The Rider-bound senior is ranked third in the country. Heilmann, like Clagon, will finish his career as a four-time state placewinner. Heilmann finished second at 120 pounds last season and is ranked 10th in the country.
Wayne Stinson, Northern Burlington, Sr. vs. Chad Walsh, Camden Catholic, Sr.
One of the Region 7 finals rematches. Stinson, who pinned Southern Regional's Chris Serpico in the prequarterfinals, is ranked 17th in the country and will wrestle at Rider. Walsh, a three-time state placewinner, is ranked 13th in the country.
Jonathan Schleifer, East Brunswick, Jr. vs. Dillon Artigliere, Roxbury, Jr.
A matchup of nationally ranked 11th graders. Schleifer is ranked sixth in the country and finished third in the state at 152 last season. Artigliere finished fifth at 152.
Jadaen Bernstein, Voorhees, Sr. vs. Ethan Ramos, Hawthore, Sr.
One of four state finals in which the top seeds in each bracket reached the final. Bernstein, who will wrestle at the Naval Academy next season, is ranked 20th in the country and finished seventh in the state at 160 last season. Ramos, who will wrestle at North Carolina next season, is ranked 12th and finished fourth at 170 last season.
Johnny Sebastian, Bergan Catholic, Jr. vs. David Williams, Hammonton, Sr.
Sebastian, ranked seventh in the country, is a defending state champ and a three-time placewinner. Sebastian beat 2012 Hammonton grad Phil Bakuckas (now at Rutgers) in the final last season. Williams enters the final with a perfect 41-0 record.
Razohnn Gross, Don Bosco Prep, Sr. vs. Anthony Messner, Franklin, Sr.
Gross is a defending state champ and one of the state's top football players. He will play at Rutgers next season but will look for a second state title first. Gross is ranked 19th in the country and beat Millville's Ed Shockley in the quarterfinals.
Bryan Dobzanski, Delsea Regional, Jr. vs. Zack Chakonis, Don Bosco Prep, So.
Dobzanski, a Region 8 champ, won all three of his matches so far by pin in the second period. Dozanski finished third in the state at 195 last season as a sophomore. Chakonis finished fifth at 220 last season as a freshman. Chakonis has won three matches by a combined four points at states.
Jeff Miller, Camden Catholic, Sr. vs. Alex Thompson, Haddon Heights, Sr.
Neither wrestler in this season's final has ever placed before at states. Thompson beat Miller in the Region 7 final last weekend.
