Daily Mike Trout update: Gets one hit, a walk and an RBI in 6-1 loss to Pirates

Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Saturday: Batting second and playing left field, Trout went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a walk in a 6-1 loss to Pittsburgh.

Today: The Angels host the Pirates and starter Charlie Morton (1-1, 1.74) in a 3:35 p.m. game.

Stats: Trout is hitting .311 with 12 home runs, 45 RBIs, 53 runs scored and 17 stolen bases on 20 attempts in 75 games. His on-base percentage is .388, his slugging percentage .543 and his OPS .931.

Notes: Trout was tied for second in the American League in multi-hit games this year through Friday. Manny Machado of the Orioles had 31 and Trout 30. Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers also had 30, and Angels teammate Howie Kendrick 28.
