The Oakcrest High School girls crew team won five races, including the two-boat varsity-eight race, at the Lake Lenape Sprints II in Mays Landing on Saturday.

Absegami won the two-boat boys varsity-eight race and two other boys races.

The Oakcrest girls varsity eight won in 5 minutes, 42.50 seconds. The crew featured Jessica Lindsay, Brianna Knight, Michaela Allen, Victoria Thies, Alonna Bennett, Taylor Phy, Emily Cameron, Meghan Guerrieri and coxswain Lindsey Prychka. Ocean City was second in 5:56.35.

The same Oakcrest crew, all underclassmen, also won the three-boat girls junior-eight race in 5:32.70.

The Absegami boys varsity-eight crew of Zee Shawn Ali, Eric Ewell, Kyle Hershman, Spencer Agli, Patrick McColgan, Michael Bird, Franco Huynk, Matt Deibert and coxswain Shiv Patel won in 4:45.00. Holy Spirit was second in 4:51.25.

St. Augustine Prep at Middletown, Del.: The Hermits finished second to Central Catholic in a five-boat boys varsity-eight race in a regatta at St. Andrew’s School.

The St. Augustine lightweight eight won the boys third-eight race, and the Prep’s junior eight took the boys fourth-eight race. The Hermits’ freshman B crew won the second freshman/novice-eight race.

The Prep’s lightweight eight featured Tom Puhalski, Bill Mayer, Connor Burbridge, Josh Power, R.J. D’Amico, Kevin Motylinski, Conor Murphy, Vittorio DiPentino and coxswain A.J. Parra.

Shoebie Cup: The Absegami, Mainland Regional and Atlantic City girls crew teams competed in the eighth annual Shoebie Cup, a girls regatta in Conshohocken, Pa. The Absegami girls varsity eight finished second to host Mount St. Joseph in the division’s final. The Absegami second eight won the petite (consolation) final of its division.

Atlantic City was second to Mount St. Joseph in the second-eight final. The Vikings’ varsity eight was third in its petite final. The A.C. junior eight was second in its petite final, and the Vikings’ junior four was second it its petite final.

Mainland won a petite final in the varsity-eight division. The Mustangs were second in the petite finals of the second eight and novice eight.
