The Middle Township High school football team held on to defeat Vineland 35-34 on Friday in a Cape-Atlantic League National Conference game.

After falling behind 19-0 in the first quarter of play, Vineland came back and took the lead in the fourth. Davion Seymore scored on a 15-yard run for the Clan.

Middle was able to recapture the lead in the fourth on a Yamire McNeal 5-yard run. The 2-point conversion but Middle up for good.

A.J. Dawson, Taalib Gerald and A.J. Anderson each scored two touchdowns for the Spartans, who remain at No. 1 in The Press Elite 11.

Gerald and Anderson scored on runs from 8 and 40 yards respectively in the first quarter. Dawson added two in the second on a 10-yard run and 43-yard touchdown catch.

Gerald returned a punt 60 yards for the score in the second as well.

In the third, Anderson threw his second touchdown pass of the game, a 20-yard strike to Jordan Taylor.

A member of the officiating crew was taken away in an ambulance to an area hospital after falling and hitting his head on the track surrounding the football field at Mainland Regional. His condition was unknown Friday night.

St. Joseph quarterback Sa'Laam Horne scored three different ways in the first half as the Wildcats pulled away from Egg Harbor Township early.

Horne had a 57-yard punt return, a 30-yard pass and an eight-yard run. Cody Sampson had two rushing touchdowns for St. Joseph, which limited Egg Harbor Township to 32 yards of total offense.

C.J. LaFragola had a 66-yard rushing touchdown and a 45-yard passing touchdown in the third as the Wildcats scored four touchdowns in the quarter.

Cedar Creek got a fourth-quarter touchdown from Isa Willis with 5:32 left in the game to take the lead from Buena.

In a game highlighted by defense, the Pirates were able to shutout the Chiefs in the second half to improve to 3-1 and hand Buena its first loss.

In the second, Cedar Creek scored first on a touchdown run by Ahmir Mitchell to make it 6-0. Buena answered to take the 7-6 lead with a keeper by quarterback Eric Rainear.

George Sayre was everywhere in the fourth quarter for Lacey on Friday.

Sayre caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Conor Davies in the fourth to give the Lions a 25-21 lead. After coming up with an interception, Sayre put the game away with a 14-yard touchdown run.

Davies threw a pair of touchdown passes after entering the game for starter Tommy Kelly, who left the game in the first half with an injury. Chris Jensen scored two touchdowns for the Lions, one a fumble recovery in the end zone and one on a 12-yard catch.

Pinelands Regional found itself down 14-0 in the first quarter. But Dan MacPhee helped the Wildcats climb back into the game with a 25-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Kicker Jon Kubricki then hit a pair of field goals, one from 27 yards in the second and another from 21 yards in the third to keep the Wildcats close.

Trailing 28-13, MacPhee connected with Cody Bonicky on a 57-yard pass to cut the lead to 28-20. Central was able to add two more touchdowns in the fourth and hold on for the win.

David Flanders scored a pair of touchdowns for the Warriors on runs from 8 and 82 yards out. Syd Jakel scored on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Gentek.
