The Hammonton High School baseball team won its own Blue Devil Invitational Tournament on Sunday, beating Triton Regional 5-3 in the semifinal and Burlington Township 6-1 in the championship game of the one-day, four-team tournament.

Hammonton left fielder Nick Ezzi went 4-for-7 with three RBIs on the day and was named tournament MVP.

Ezzi doubled in Shane Guyer and Chris Smith in the bottom of the sixth inning against Triton to make it 5-3. Teammate Alex Padovani tripled in that game. Winning pitcher Andrew Hamilton went the distance and gave up four hits, striking out three and walking three.

In the championship game, Smith went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Hammonton pitcher Anthony Cappuccio went six innings for the win, striking out one and walking three. Blue Devils reliever Keith Salmon worked the seventh inning.

Burlington Township beat Overbrook 2-1 in its semifinal.

Al Hedelt Tournament

Buena Regional, Holy Spirit, Pennsville and host Oakcrest won first-round games at the 21st annual Al Hedelt Tournament.

Oakcrest defeated Atlantic County Institute of Technology 13-1 in five innings. Buena, No. 10 in The Press Elite 11, beat Absegami 4-2. Pennsville topped Sacred Heart 6-1. Holy Spirit defeated Cedar Creek 9-3, scoring all nine runs in the sixth inning.

The semifinal games will be at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakcrest. The championship and third-place games will follow at 3:30 p.m. Oakcrest meets Pennsville in one semifinal and Buena goes against Holy Spirit in the other.

Oakcrest's Ryan Johnson pitched three innings to get the win against ACIT and went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Buena's Robert Bunton was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs against Absegami. Ian Bertucci got the win.

Holy Spirit's Ryan Solari had two hits and four RBIs against Cedar Creek. For the Pirates, JD Langlois homered and singled.

Sacred Heart's Chris Repice hit a solo homer in the loss to Pennsville.

In consolation games, Absegami topped Cedar Creek 6-2 and Sacred Heart beat ACIT 11-6. David Snyder was the winning pitcher for Absegami, and Buck Amend and Jake Marsico each went 2-for-4. Cedar Creek's Mac Boney was 2-for-3. Sacred Heart's Kevin Allen was the winning pitcher against ACIT.
