Lacrosse roundup: Dustin Guenther sets Absegami point record

Dustin Guenther posted six goals and three assists to set a school record for most points in a game with nine as Absegami defeated visiting Vineland 15-6 in a Cape-Atlantic League boys lacrosse game Friday.

Teammate Gary Albano tied the record of eight set in 2011 by Ben Hubbard on Tuesday. Guenther also tied the school record for most goals in a game that Austin Goodwin set in 2012.

For Vineland, Nicky Ostrowski and Calvin Stiles each had two goals and an assist.

Alex Terenik, Zach Buchanan and Jack Denis each scored four goals to propel Middle Township, No. 9 in the Press Elite 11.Terenik and Buchanan added three and two assists, respectively.

Tommy Williams recorded 12 saves for the Panthers.

For Ocean City, Matt Schuler and Dan Spatol posted four goals apiece.

Four different players posted multiple goals for Lacey Township, led by Holly Brewster and Lauren Salemme with six each. Brittany Biele contributed three goals and three assists for the Lions (9-0) and Maura Weaver four goals and four assists.

Ali Herbert scored five goals for host Pinelands. Central led 9-3 at halftime.

Herbert scored her 100th career goal on Thursday in a 14-13 loss at Monsignor Donovan. She now has 109 goals.

Victoria Deever led visiting Middle with five goals and Maddie Anagnou had two. Panthers goalie Courtney Laing had 14 saves. For Lower, Nicole Sangillo scored four goals, and Lindsay Lare and Victoria Mann had two apiece.
