Softball roundup: Middle Township takes advantage of 10 walks to beat Cinnaminson

The seventh-seeded Middle Township High School girls softball team scored three runs on 10 walks to defeat No. 10 Cinnaminson 3-1 in the opening round of the South Jersey Group II playoffs Tuesday.

Tori Sittineri and Chelsea Bright each walked twice and scored a run for the Panthers. Alyssa DiScepola registered Middle Township's only hit of the game.

Sittineri pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and one run for the pitching victory.

Middle will meet No. 2 seed Overbrook in the a quarterfinal game on Thursday.

Ashley Stratton led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk. Sam Fiocchi laid down a sacrifice bunt, but a throwing error by Pemberton allowed Stratton to score from first base for the game's only run.

Fiocchi pitched a two-hit shutout and Carly Linus tripled for Buena, No. 9 in The Press Elite 11.

Darby Langel tallied two hits, two stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI to guide the Pirates into a quarterfinal game with No. 5 seed Woodstown on Friday.

Cheyenne Meyer pitched a complete game, while striking out 11, walking none and allowing five hits. Meyer also registered two doubles and two RBIs. Sydney Seney also hit two doubles, including a one-run double in the bottom of the sixth to end the game by the mercy rule.
