Softball roundup: Pinelands Regional wins playoff opener

Breanna Wilson hit a three-run double in the fifth inning to help host Pinelands Regional High School beat Oakcrest 6-2 in a South Jersey Group III first-round softball playoff game Monday.

Pinelands, which is ranked 10th in The Press Elite 11, is seeded fourth in the playoffs. Wilson had two walks and four RBIs.

Teammate Kurstin Binshed-ler was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Wildcats pitcher Emma Neuweiler allowed six hits, struck out seven and walked two.

Oakcrest's Devin Francz went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBIs.

Pinelands will host the winner between fifth-seeded Burlington Town-ship and No. 12 Seneca on Thursday in a Group III second-round game.

Brooke Hallett had two hits for Holy Spirit.
