Softball roundup: Hammonton, Sacred Heart advance; Pinelands Regional eliminated
Morgan DiVello's sixth inning grand slam helped the Hammonton High School softball team defeat Kingsway Regional 7-6 in a South Jersey Group III semifinal game Tuesday.
The No. 2 seed Blue Devils trailed 5-2 before DiVello hit a two-out pitch to center field with the bases loaded. She also tripled, scored twice and had five RBIs.
Also for Hammonton, Heather Visco was 2-for-4, scored three runs and had a stolen base.
For Kingsway, the third seed, Tori Danner was 2-for-3, including a two-run home run, and had three RBIs.
Hammonton will play at top-seeded GCIT for the S.J. championship Friday.

Michele Civile hit a game-ending two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Gloucester County Institute of Technology in a S.J. Group III semifinal.
Erynn Sobieski tossed a four-hitter to beat the Wildcats, who are ranked 10th in The Press Elite 11.

Rosie LaGrotta pitched a three-hit shutout and hit a two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie and send the Lions to victory in the quarterfinal game.
Sam Caterina hit a two-run double in the sixth inning for Sacred Heart.
The Lions, the third seed and No. 3 in the Elite 11, advance to the sectional semifinals. Sacred Heart will face the winner of today's game between No. 2 Mater Dei and No. 7 St. Rose.
