Softball roundup: Mainland gets first win on Gab Guarracino's walk-off single

Gab Guarracino hit a walk off single to score Jillian Bruno in the bottom of the seventh to give Mainland Regional High School a 2-1 victory over Holy Spirit in a Cape-Atlantic League American Conference Division II softball game Thursday.

Amanda Bocelli's single in the top of the seventh scored Brianne Long to tie the game at 1-1.

Emme Rovins went 3-for-3 for Mainland and Raquelle Rusciamo was 2-for-3. Winning pitcher Abby Roberts pitched a complete game and struck out six.

Karly Newcomb went 2-for-3 for the Spartans.

Ashley Surran went 3-for-4, including a double and had a run scored for Buena Regional. Carly Linus went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Alex Loloi went 2-for-4 with a double for the Chiefs.

Chelsea Bright went 2-for-4 and scored two runs for Middle. Victoria Raffaele 3-went-4 with two doubles and Lauren Novsak was 2-for-3.

Winning pitcher Cheyenne Meyer took a perfect game into the fourth inning and struck out nine. At the plate, Meyer was 4-for-5, including two home runs, and had five RBIs. Amanda Fletcher tripled twice and homered for Cedar Creek.

Idalis Disla hit an RBI single in the fourth inning for ACIT.

Jenna Geisinger scored the game's only run in the bottom of the eighth to give Lacey Township its first win of the season.

In the eighth, Geisinger reached base on a leadoff walk. She advanced to second on a passed ball. Amanda Santoro bunted down the third-base line for Lacey's lone hit and Geisinger scored from second on an overthrown ball to first.
