Softball roundup: Corie Collins' 100th hit pushes Millville past Oakcrest 3-2

Corie Collins knocked in a run for Millville with her 100th career hit as the Thunderbolts defeated host Oakcrest 3-2 in a Cape-Atlantic League softball game Wednesday.

Casey Derella and Rachel Rivera each provided two hits, including a double by each. DeRella scored a run, while Rivera recorded an RBI for the Thunderbolts. Lauren Tobolski recorded a single, stolen base, RBI and run scored.

For Oakcrest, Jesse Liepe doubled and pitcher Sam Liepe struck out four. Emily Brown went 2-for-3 for the Falcons.

St. Joseph 2, 10 innings

Mainland Regional ended its season with an extra innings victory over St. Joseph.

Stephanie Droboniku began the bottom of the 10th on second base. Maddie McGlynn's sacrifice bunt moved Droboniku over to third. With two outs, Gab Guarracino hit a ball in between the second- and first-base gap and beat out the throw to first for the victory.

Abby Roberts went all 10 innings and struck out five in the victory. Guarracino and senior captain Jessie Higbee each registered two hits for the Mustangs, while Kathryn Hutton tripled and scored a run.

St. Joseph's pitcher Taylor Sirolli also pitched a complete game, striking out eight. Carly Testa was 3-for-5, including a double.

Cedar Creek's Cheyenne Meyer and Morgan Brown combined for the no-hit shutout.

Meyer improved to 16-7 and recorded seven strikeouts in three innings pitched. Morgan Brown finished the game and struck out one.

Senior Angela Hood, Amanda Fletcher and Francesca Ruth sparked the Pirates' offense on the first ever Senior Day.

Fletcher was 4-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases, while Hood went 3-for-4 and scored three times. Ruth blasted two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

West Deptford posted four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth inning and totaled nine hits.

Marissa Lindquist pitched a complete game shutout for the Eagles with 10 strikeouts.
