Softball roundup: Lower Cape May defeats Mainland Regional in 9 innings

Arielle Magee registered her second double of the day to score Carissa Scott and lead Lower Cape May Regional over host Mainland Regional 6-4 in nine innings in a Cape-Atlantic League interconference game Friday.

Scott reached on an error and stole second to set up Magee.

Mariah Sheehan earned the win with a complete game and three strikeouts.

Mainland sent the game into extra innings with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ashlee Moran, who went 4-for-5, singled with one out. Alix Haberkern then walked and Raquelle Rusciano reached on an error to score Moran. Maddie McGlynn drew another walk and Jill Bruno reached on an error to score Haberkern to bring the Mustangs within one. Stefanie Droboniku walked with the bases loaded to tie it.

Abby Roberts, who also pitched a complete game, tallied seven strikeouts in the loss.
