Cristie Kerr started playing golf at the age of eight. Kerr had a successful amateur career. She is a three-time winner of the Florida State Junior Girls Championship from 1993-95. In 1994, she captured three victories from the Junior Orange Bowl Classic, the Doral Public Junior Classic and the Women’s Western Junior Championships. Kerr turned professional in 1996 and competed in several events. Her best finish in 1996 was tied for sixth at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. In 2007, Kerr won her first major championship at the U.S. Open. Kerr became the first American to reach the Rolex Rankings No. 1 position in 2010 and spent five weeks in the top spot to finish the year at No. 2. Kerr recorded 12 top-10 finishes in 2011.
