Still more than 45,000 customers without power, Atlantic City Electric reports
Utilities are continuing to restore power as the region recovers from Hurricane Sandy.
Atlantic City Electric reported 46,274 customers without power at 7 a.m. today. These are now concentrated in the region’s barrier islands, which suffered the brunt of the damage. Long Beach Island had about 20,000 customers without power, and another 7,855 were in the dark in Ocean City.
Another 4,400 were without power in Manahawkin, and about 4,900 were without power in Northfield and Linwood.
Farther north, Jersey Central Power and Light reported 13,600 of its South Jersey customers were without power at 7 a.m. The company, which covers parts of central and northern New Jersey, has 755,203 customers without power in total.
