Sea Isle City Mayor Len Desiderio said residents and business owners in the shore town can return to the island today with proper identification.

Desiderio and city police are manning a checkpoint outside the city and allowing people in, but Desiderio said those who are allowed back must not engage in any joyriding around the town, which is still in the midst of cleaning up after the storm.

Many city streets still have debris and some parts still have minor flooding.

Desiderio said residents are being asked to return directly to their homes rather than wander about the town until the streets are in better condition. Power has largely been restored to the town, he said.
