South of Asbury Park, the small town of Ocean Grove features charming Victorian homes and a variety of unique shops and eateries. It also boasts a quiet, pristine beach and a non-commercial boardwalk.
Bring some fishing poles and bait - its Boardwalk features a fishing pier that extends into the ocean, perfect for young anglers.
The quaint downtown is about two blocks from the beachfront, so shopping and restaurants are close by. There are also many charming bed and breakfasts in town if you'd like to spend the night.
During the summer, Ocean Grove hosts many events, from flea markets to concerts. Check out www.oceangrovenj.com for a full calendar.
Choose a spot near the beach office, located on the Boardwalk at the end of Embury Avenue, for easy access to restrooms, bathrooms, and changing rooms. Showers are located at many spots along the Boardwalk.
Parking is available on the street along Ocean Avenue and many side steets, but spots can be hard to come by. The best bet is to plan on arriving early, or be prepared to hunt for a spot.
