BACKGROUND: The Basin on New Hampshire Avenue is the location of the Atlantic City Aquarium, Atlantic City Marina, a crafter's village and several restaurants.

The aquarium is a good place to start your day. Its tanks house both local and exotic species of fish. There are also feeding shows, petting tanks and even ferrets to keep the kids amused. The aquarium is stroller and small-kid friendly.

INSIDER INFO: The basin features short cruises and fishing trips that set sail from the marina. Hungry? There are a few different choices in dining locations. The Flying Cloud Cafe offers outdoor dining on a waterfront deck.
