Atlantic City Polar Bears make their 20th annual plunge at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, in front of Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. The bears plunge in rain, sleet, snow and hail, dressed in beach attire. Each plunger receives a commemorative finisher's certificate. To commemorate warm hearts among chilly feet, the Atlantic City Polar Bears encourages members to make a donation to this year's charity, the Food Bank of Bristol Borough, Pa., Community Action Group. Your donation will allow the food bank to sustain food donations during the holidays and to assist people who are behind on their water bills, electric bills, etc. In the past, the Food Bank relied solely on church donations and public contributions, but those have fallen off because of the economic times. For more information, call Mike Kahlenberg, president of the Atlantic City Polar Bears, at 215-547-3564 or 267-566-4649.
