BACKGROUND: Bert Parks could ad-lib his way out of tight corners on live TV. But even Parks, the late, great Miss America Pageant emcee, couldn't gloss over the fact that his statue is still in Atlantic City but the pageant is not. Weird? Yes. But the Miss America Organization once had an office at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel. Still, the bronze statue, standing in front of the hotel, is still the most visible reminder of a local institution that skipped town and headed to Las Vegas.

The nearly life-sized statue was erected in 1998. It features Parks holding the famous rhinestone tiara, waiting to crown anyone who stands in front of him. This is a picture that your daughter will laugh about in years to come - what little girl doesn't dream of being Miss America?

INSIDER INFO: It's a bit of a hike from the Walk, but if you're near Kirkman Boulevard, bring your camera, have her step up to the tiara and capture her runway moment.
