BACKGROUND: Children of a certain age - roughly 1 to 8 years old - usually love the Jersey Shore Children's Museum. But Sue Gunther, the director of the museum has an important warning for you parents out there:
You may well love this place too.
"They all say, 'We're not going to play,'" Gunther reports, based on years of conversations with adults coming through the doors. "And then they go out saying, 'We had a really great time.'"
The main idea behind this little museum is that kids get to dress up and play the parts of working adults - doctors in a children's emergency room, weather forecasters in a television newsroom, storekeepers in the local market or even pro basketball stars on an NBA-style court.
"And parents find out when they come in that they usually become the patient for the doctor, or the shopper" in the store, Gunther says.
