An Atlantic City man was arrested Monday after assaulting and dragging his girlfriend in his vehicle as she attempted to escape, according to Atlantic City police.

On Monday, patrol officers responded to New Hampshire and Atlantic avenues for a report of a woman lying in the road. Officer Bryan O’Neill arrived to find the 41-year-old Atlantic City woman in the middle of the road with numerous injuries.

According to police, the victim had been in a vehicle with her boyfriend, Daniel Martinez, 31, of Atlantic City. The woman tried to leave the car after Martinez began to assault her. Before leaving the vehicle, the woman leaned back to grab her belongings when Martinez sped off, dragging the victim as she held on to the vehicle, police said.
