South Jersey Gas will present the Atlantic City Police Foundation with a $3,000 grant as part of the company’s first responders grant program, the utility announced Wednesday.

The foundation will receive the grant at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Atlantic City Public Safety Building.

The funds will be used to purchase new rifle-resistant vests for police officers.

The Police Foundation is one of eight recipients of the grants. The organizations include local police, fire or emergency medical services departments comprised of paid or volunteer staff members serving their municipalities.
