The Claridge Hotel will hold a job fair for Tioga Downs, a New York racetrack and casino, later this month (FILE).

ATLANTIC CITY -- A casino and racetrack in New York will be holding a job fair later this month in an attempt to lure experienced casino employees, according to a spokesman.

Tioga Downs, in Nichols, New York, will hold a two-day job fair 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 29 and 30 at the Claridge Hotel, said Stephen J. Donnelly, a spokesman for the company.

This is the second job fair organized by an out-of-state casino in the past month. On Aug. 10, MGM Grand National Harbor, a casino scheduled to open near Washington, D.C., held at job fair at the Borgata, which drew hundreds of people.

Tioga Downs offers 795 casino games, made up mostly of electronic blackjack and poker machines, according to the racetrack’s website. Donnelly said the company hopes to acquire a Class III Casino License soon, which would allow it to start featuring table games, including craps, roulette and blackjack.

The racetrack casino’s owner, Jeffrey Gural , has been active in showing his support for allowing casino gambling to expand to North Jersey. In addition to Tioga Downs, Gural also operates Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford. The Meadowlands Sports Complex, which contains the racetrack, has been considered a potential destination for a casino if voters decide to approve North Jersey casinos in a referendum in November.
