Atlantic City police are looking for a suspect - and the intended target - in a shooting that left a woman wounded inside a local pizzeria Monday morning.
Tarra Rodriguez, 24, of Atlantic City, was inside Chelsea Pizza II on the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. when she was struck in the back by a bullet that was fired from outside, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said. Rodriguez's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The shooter was seen running north on Indiana Avenue and through the Sun Bank parking lot. He was described as a 5-foot-11 dark-skinned black male with a thin build and braids. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
The man was believed to be shooting at another man, described by witnesses as a short, light-skinned black male with a heavy build, last seen with a dog that was described as a pit bull terrier, McMenamin said. He fled the scene and has not come forward to speak with police.
ShotSpotter - the city's audio gunshot-detection system - first alerted police to the shooting. A call to 911 came a short time later.
Anyone who may have information about the shooting is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766 or Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234.
Information may be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.
